So yeah, I’m at this time now where I’m pretty much confused about my directions in everything. I’m doing technically nothing to ensure my future at Western Culinary is secured, instead I’m thinking about if whether should I stick with a bike and get a car later when I’m out working or just hold it in until SPM is over and see how my results are and decide then, but it’s really really hard when the stupid government wants to raise the age limit for drivers when they desire.
Sure, you’d think that letting 17 year olds drive is a deathwish, but how dumb can they get to not forecast people actually driving without a license since the age limit is so high up there and not many can wait that long. Personally, I’m wishing on every star that the age limit won’t hike up before my time comes and I can end up driving a good car and not worry (and be worried) by my parents as I ride that 600cc bike. It’s just that if by the time 17 comes and I’m not eligible to get a driver’s license, it’d be such a bummer and stressful thing, but it also relieves to think that if I do well in my studies I can get a vehicle later at my study country. But yeah, now I’m taking my B full which is the 500cc and above bike license, and my parents are already going on and on about how dangerous it is to ride these big bikes when I in actual fact have no plans of buying a new bike anyway! Well, that’s simply because I don’t have the money to do so, I mean it’s close to the price of a Kelisa for one! But of course you get a Ferrari on two wheels for the right price lah. At it is now also I feel that my freedom and desire don’t match, I know getting a big bike is bad but I’m still aiming for it, why? Some say I want to be different, and I can agree, except I want to be different in a good way. What is happening to this helpless boy?
It’s no doubt, I run into one too many people these days who have experience on big bikes and they all carry a scar. My uncle, in his late twenties on his scrambler got his head under the tyre of a truck in a bad accident. My dad’s long time friend, a fellow Ducati fan who got in a semi-minor semi-major accident on his Kawasaki 1100 soon after he got married, now bans all of his kids from going even near to a bike and Isa, a friend working at a local superbike showroom, a biker for almost 7 years got at least four 15cm scars on his arms and legs due to major accidents in biking and finally my cousin Cik who’s had countless accidents big or small with scars all over to tell. True, you don’t see me not tremble in the face of these true life stories of encounters with death and cheating it, but in a hard way to explain, something drives me for something unique, and complete in a riding experience. I just can’t feel the same way about cars, like driving cars is a static thing, you know?
Ask anybody and they’ll say motorcycles are dangerous. Why? It’s not because of us scooterists or them big bikers, it’s because of those punks that have nothing better to do. Here, the image of a motorcyclist is just tarnished so badly that people who ride motorcyclist are immediately labelled a ‘rempit’ if they go over 50mph. Fact of the matter is, most of the time it’s about the mentality of the rider. Does ego possess you when you’re all cool on a bike that bangs in everyone’s face? 90% of the time it’s true, but look at statistics, how often do you find a motorcycle over 500c being involved in an accident that is not near fatal? The rates are so ridiculous i feel that they should seperate accident rates for big bikers and normal motorcyclists. I can count with one hand how many times I’ve seen a superbike go head to head with another vehicle, and most of the cases I see is the user’s fault where he takes a roll from angling too much at a turn. Other than that, it’s all Yamaha 125cc clutched tank bikes! (literally) Obviously, looking at statistics still won’t overcome the thought burnt in everyone’s mind that 4 wheels is definetly better than 2, but you simply just can’t compare accidents with big bikes and small bikes, it’s just way too different to start talking about! Discipline exists in a trained and experience biker, joy replaces it for other cases. I’ll object anytime if someone says that accidents on big bikes are also determined by other vehicles on the road, since, I’d say at least, only observent people would have the guts and brains to ride a bike with an engine displacement larger than 250cc (B1). Just goes to show how good one person’s thoughts can influence virtually everyone else’s, eh?
