Well today was the square off between SMKSSAAS, SMKS19, SMKS18, SMKS11, SMKS7 and SMKS9 for the zone level Drama Competiton. Should have just sent Aysha in and we’d win right away since she’s such a drama queen cum the shit stirrer in my life. No matter. SMKS19 won, they had this play about some dude named Manikkam and and old granny with an obsessive, compulsive and disordered son which likes to dish out some serious anti-anger management feelings towards his wife. Basically it was about this grandma which had a kid and a daughter in-law, except she doesn’t really like her and she’s always at home with her while her son’s out working. Well whooptidee, the mom’s always bullying the in-law (funny, normally in malay dramas it’s the other way around) to do cleaning jobs and stuff. I think they wont because of the son, he was really hating. But wait, then the son and the in-law (I think) has a kid and the funniest thing is is that this kid was really fair and his so-called parents were the directly opposite, so there was some real skin tone contra here.

Many of the kids who cut class to come to the hall to watch the play made lots of noise, useless noise. Me, Adrian, Frank, Yeu Song, Jaya and Dzu Yi were ushering the schools and doing crowd control but these kids who cut class to come to the hall to give pointless comments about the play and shout out words like ‘chiek’ and ‘chah’ for the sake of shouting out words like ‘chiek’ and ‘chah’ were going out of hand and the next thing we knew the KRS was closing almost every roller shutter leading into the hall. But did you think that that was going to stop them, Pn. Shirin? Nooo. They of course went backstage! and made more weird noises. I hope the other schools weren’t too disturbed and understand the situation those patien…. I mean students were going through.

Well, my school’s play was about some mother nature thing. You know how boring mother nature plays can get, they like to use boombastic words and catchphrases comparable to Frodo and Sam and they make it sound so much like a copy of Narnia. Which is actually very boring if you can’t hear what they were saying. I honestly think we lost because there wasn’t much action and too much talking. Section 18 did a cool play, I thought they’d win. It was about a bus stop and they everyday people that revolves around it and they have motions like a bus hitting one of them and etc, so there’s this good mixture of props, actions and talking. Too bad they lost too.

Aysha and Fatin were the emcees and they spoke so loudly into the microphone like it was a debate or something and everybody was going like ‘why the hell are they shouting?!?!’ I didn’t hear Fatin talk much though.. She’s a shy bloke I suppose *gags!* Thinking back about it only Section 18 and 19 had a good motion : caption ratio, the rest were more to talking and talking and talking. Well, the lamest part was when the whole thing is over and there was this special performance of some sort from some unknown people, and after that was done they noticed that the whole thing was wayyyyyyy ahead of schedule and that they had to find a way to stall for time so they called upon anybody who wanted to sing to come up to the stage and… sing. Next thing I know as I went backstage I see this people looking into a teacher’s laptop and there’s a karaoke clip playing on it and they’re actually singing to it. It got worse, when they eventually got bored of just singing they went into the public’s sight and started dancing.. You know it’s serious when these people start dancing in their granny suits and what not.

Personally I was holding my breath waiting for the teacher to start acting like hooligans because this whole waiting for the judges to make up their mind thing took a really long time. Looking at the bright side? At least some of them were bad singers and they sang at the correct time which was when the people who weren’t involved with the drama was cutting class at the hall and they were rudely turned off by this horrendous screeching some people dare to claim as a melody. Good job, guys.
