I came across a banner leading to this site whilst browsing through a usual forum which I everyday visit.. Apparently Islamic regions around the world are boycotting Denmark after a caricature of Prophet Muhammad (now this sounds very familiar doesn’t it?) was published in a Denmark local newspaper, the Jyllands-Posten. But the problem here is, I’ve also found a translated version of the site which translates it to Bahasa Melayu. Now I don’t mean to sound like an infidel, but isn’t Bahasa Melayu the native language of Malays which are… Muslim? Hmm! The site is asking for economical support of Denmark, not support for free speech though they mention it very clearly. I don’t know, I just think it’s a bit screwed that they’re asking for help from their public enemy..
Pada 30hb September 2005, akhbar Denmark Jyllands-Posten telah menerbitkan 12 kartun
tentang Nabi Muhammad. Setelah orang-orang Islam mengadakan tunjuk
perasaan, dua orang pelukis kartun dipaksa menyembunyikan diri selepas
menerima ancaman ke atas nyawa mereka. Pertubuhan-pertubuhan Islam
telah menuntut supaya kerajaan Denmark meminta maaf dan situasi ini
sudah menjadi isu diplomatik di merata dunia. OIC (Pertubuhan Persidangan Negara-Negara Islam), Dewan Eropah dan UN
(Pertubuhan Bangsa-Bangsa Bersatu) semua telah mengkritik kerajaan
Denmark kerana tidak mengambil tindakan terhadap akhbar
Jyllands-Posten. Perdana Menteri Denmark Anders Fogh Rasmussen
telah membela kebebasan bersuara dan kebebasan akhbar dan beliau
mengatakan bahawa hanya mahkamah, bukan kerajaan, yang berhak mengambil
tindakan, jika ada, terhadap akhbar itu. Sementara itu, bendera Denmark
dibakar dan produk Denmark diboikot di negara-negara Islam. Beberapa
negara telah menarik balik duta mereka dari Denmark dan orang-orang bersenjata telah menyerang pejabat EU di Semenanjung Gaza.
Denmark memerlukan sokongan kami.
I still can’t figure it out!? why are they asking for support from the very countries that they claim are boycotting them? could it be a cry for help from anybody who is anybody? you decide. No racism intended.
