No, it’s not something you can eat and it certainly is no BRA BUS. Due to the ongoing enquiries I’m getting from friends about this Brabus thingamajig, I thought I’d help everyone else get to know this aftermarket car tuning company. (Plus I’m getting irritated explaining the same damn thing 10 times a day)
Brabus was founded a very long time ago actually so don’t be surprised if you see an old one on the road, it was back then in 1977 when Bodo Buschmann (what la dey) started this company to specialize in, aftermarketly, tuning Mercedes-Benz and Maybach cars which include their sedans and sports coupe’s. Brabus literally takes over the cars purchased from MB and Maybach, cranks them up to Brabus standards (and price tags..), renames them and sells them under the English franchise’s name. You may also know Aufrecht Melcher Großaspach or AMG which is Mercedes-Benz’s sports tuning affiliate. The difference between an AMG and Brabus is exactly the same as the difference from a Honda Si/R and Honda Type R. The former is meant for full spec tuning which includes leather application wherever applies and suspension tuning to suit a comfortable ride. The latter is meant for racing where Recaro bucket seats are thrown in and engines are tuned to output mad horsepower to maximize racing performance. AMG is Type R, Si is Brabus. Except SiR still uses the Honda name.
However, Brabus gives 40% focus to engine performance too, so they’re basically a crossover between sports and full spec cars, which is good if you want everything but is bad if you want it for a small figure. Brabus’s cars includes the S B7 (CLS 350) and A 170. Their EV12 sedan is currently the fastest production sedan with a top running speed of 350km/h. They also remarket the world famous ‘top value for money’ Smart Fortwo Coupe.
In Malaysia, the Brabus dealership is currently owned by Naza and they are the sole distributors. But word is that they have recently lost the distributorship due to poor sales figures and high import rates. Poor them, but I still see some running around Shah Alam and that’s gotta be a good thing. They have a showroom on Jalan Telawi, Bangsar and a seperate company solely for the Brabus business, Naza-Brabus Sdn. Bhd. as a part of the Naza group of companies. Brabus’s competitors include RENNtech and Carlsson.
Not all of the information above may be correct or false, but it should give you a rough idea of what a Brabus is, rather than not knowing anything about it at all.
