DeepaRaya

Just when MerryGongXiFaCai couldn’t get any odder, now there’s DeepaRaya too as in Deepavali + Raya. It’s actually quite creative, considering the little bell in the corner of my brain that rings everytime I hear someone say it, just a bit ‘economy rice’ lah if you know what I mean.

So yes, I’m here awake at 4am packing my bags and stuffing the green envelopes in preparation for the Raya trip, something I like to codename (cheesy guys do this) The Big Away. The reason why I name it this is because it’s the first time that I’m actually going to have one consecutive trips subsequent to the Raya one to Singapore. Now before you say anything, I know that SPM is really nearby and my additional maths are ’sekolah pondok’ standards, but it’s an all expense paid trip. Who would turn that down? Carrying on.

This will also be the first time I will spend a total of 6 days and 5 nights in Penang which is also absolutely unnecessary because at most Raya is 2 days long for a tiny town like Kepala Batas. Who knows, this might just be what I need to actually absorb the homework and excercises? (yeah, like that’s a valid excuse.)

Well, I’d like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Happy Deepavali and Selamat Hari Raya. No cards, SMSes, and duit raya - but I definetly send my best wishes to you guys. Also, I’d like to apologize to those of whom I had supposedly done any wrong in any form to, especially the people at the back there. Yes, you. You know I meant no harm =)

For those of you travelling back home for the festive weekend, be sure to SMS the cops your address and all, since they claim the patrolling’s going to work though I wouldn’t hold my breath. Make sure you take all of your personal belongings, and set any timers that you have to set. Disconnect the gas, electricity, keep the porch and a room light on, lock all doors with double locks if possible, and arm your alarm systems because I’m not kidding you when I say we live in a very, very unsafe world now.

Oh and hey, don’t forget to buckle up. Again, wishing you guys a good trip and celebration - Happy Deepavali, Selamat Hari Raya, and Selamat Lebuh Raya. 80km/h speed limit, tell your dad.
