Anatomy Of A Stupid.

What do they mean? (Open message)

If some of you still don’t know it, I’m an SPM 2006 student. SPM is equivalent to the SAT and O-Levels. The results will debut this 12th March as per stated by the local newspapers.

So being me, I’d always be on the lookout for any updates during the release dates of the results, but about 2 days back I stumbled upon something that was rather, if you will bear with me, same yet different. Check this out.

Girl from Johor scores 19A1s in SPM

"Keputusan peperiksaan Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) 2006 yang akan
diumumkan pada 12 Mac ini dijangka menyaksikan satu lagi rekod baru
dilakarkan apabila seorang pelajar perempuan dari sebuah sekolah di
pekan Rengit dekat sini berjaya memperoleh 19 1A.

Pelajar pintar itu, Nadiah Amirah Jamil, 18, ialah penuntut  Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Tun Sardon."

Okay, that’s cool, we’re talking about a world record achievement in education here. Top results for 19 subjects, 11 for the ones she is taking and 8 studied independently. This will also erase 2005 candidate Nur Amalina’s record of 17A1s. Nadiah is probably if you ask me another bookworm which also probably has the same number of friends as per her achievement since she studies way too much and puts aside the social life in the name of education.

But my question here is, has the SPM exams become a medium for rat races in pursuit of the most amount of A1s? 50 A1s do not mean anything if the person who got it did it only for the sake of doing it. Aside from all the accusations she may get, Nadiah and all the others who ‘asked for trouble’ and applied for additional subjects are making this race a

sort of benchmark for society, which shouldn’t happen because we shouldn’t rely on that one person just because he/she got the most amount of A1s as compared to others.

Soon there will be no chance for the other 99.99% candidates to actually get something special and appreciative from the government, because they already gave that away to the student who got top amounts of As.

Nadiah will be publishing a book on her personal methods in achieving this feat soon. God help the not so smart pupils.
