Small talk :- After almost another month of absence, I just got to find out that the TypePad engine for Friendster blogs has changed again.. Unfriendly, just like any other blog engines at their prime ages, probably just needs some getting hang to.

There’s so many talented, lucky and intelligent teenagers out there. I’ve never seen so many budding photographers, bloggers, singers, actors and actresses, wealthy and living la dolce vita teenagers before.

So much that it sometimes scares me. Back in my younger days DSLRs, Photoshop wizards and dotcom blogs were only but the dreams of technology savvy school pupils. Now it’s a whole different ball game. At 16 they get the RM2000 camera, at 17 they master the use of it and at 18 they start acquiring the art of digital image manipulation.

I’ve long been a fan of this one rather cocky guy by the name of Lim Wan Xiong. A tack sharp photograph obsessed youngster from Bandar Utama. Armed with only a Rebel XT and kit lens, he took pictures you wouldn’t believe came from a standard lens of a camera. But he did it anyway, with the help of CS2 and even created other pieces with applications like 3DMax and AutoCAD. Since then he was, to me, not just a local teenage digital artist, but he was THE local teenage digital artist of our generation. Envious I was, at times.

Best part is this guy is just the tip of the ice berg. Too many other skillful teens out there are still doing things better than what any adult can try to do. Of the not so famous ones would be Mr. Dotcom himself, Maynard as per se just went dot com himself for his traffic racking blog, pervertism101. There’s my trainee mate from UiTM while I was at Parkroyal KL, Suliza which kicked everyone’s ass at carving fruits until senior staffs took her for part time carving jobs which earned her a worthy RM10 per small fruit carved.

Another personality almost similar to Wan Xiong would be my back-in-the-days Photoshop guruette, Alison Tan. Her and brushes clicked like silk, and all her arts look damn professional. Back when I just met her she was already obsessed with creating all sorts of digital pieces like icons, wallpapers and posters. Looking back at our co-op project for IU Day, the things she came up with so easily dwarfed my 2 nights straight hard effort. Now studying at LimKokWing, will only enhance what she does best and now running around with her own 400D, she’s sure to give some old timers a run for their money in the future.

There’s so many others. Racers, business entrepreneurs, models, journalists, culinary students that are so good at what they do they practically train new permanent staff. You guys know who you are.

The point of this post is to acknowledge that we are the teenagers that shape the future, and it’s certainly so because we are trendsetters, whether we like it or not. We are the very first few to start something and cause many others to follow suit regardless of whether younger or elder. This post is dedicated to the respective people mentioned or not in this post and of course also to yours truly.

We are indeed, the pioneers of our age.
